Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Instrumentation Engineer to join our client’s industrial operations in East London. You will support measurement, control, and monitoring of processes by implementing and maintaining instrumentation systems, working with process engineers and maintenance teams to optimize plant performance, safety, and product quality.

The role requires a strong instrumentation focus, experience with sensors, DCS and PLCs, and knowledge of safety standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering with instrumentation focus.
3-5 years of industrial instrumentation and control systems experience.
Experience with sensors and control valves is preferred.
Knowledge of safety standards and hazardous areas is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Select, install, calibrate, and maintain industrial instrumentation and sensors.
Develop and implement control strategies using DCS and PLC systems.
Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system failures to minimize downtime.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Instrumentation Engineer to join their dynamic industrial operations in East London. This role is critical for ensuring the accurate measurement, control, and monitoring of industrial processes through the implementation and maintenance of sophisticated instrumentation systems. You will work closely with process engineers and maintenance teams to optimize plant performance, enhance safety, and ensure product quality. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of measurement technology to make a significant contribution.

Key Responsibilities

Select, install, calibrate, and maintain a wide range of industrial instrumentation, including sensors, transmitters, and control valves.
Develop and implement control strategies using DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and PLC systems.
Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and control system failures to minimize process downtime.
Ensure all instrumentation and control systems comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
Collaborate with process engineers to identify opportunities for process optimization through improved instrumentation.
Prepare technical documentation, including P&IDs, loop diagrams, and calibration records.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering with a strong instrumentation focus.
3-5 years of experience in industrial instrumentation and control systems engineering.
Proficiency with various types of sensors (pressure, temperature, flow, level) and control valves.
Experience with DCS and PLC programming and troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of process control theory and loop tuning.
Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and relevant safety standards is a plus.
