Job summary

Placements24 in East London seeks a skilled Instrumentation Technician to support our industrial operations. You will calibrate, maintain, and repair process control instruments and systems to ensure accuracy and reliability across manufacturing processes.

You will read P&ID diagrams, interpret electrical schematics, and work with PLCs and DCS, performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting to keep equipment safe and productive.

Qualifications

• Qualified Instrumentation Technician with relevant trade certification or diploma.
• Proven experience in an industrial instrumentation role in manufacturing or processing plants.
• Strong knowledge of measurement principles for pressure, temperature, flow, and level.
• Experience with calibration equipment and procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and maintain instruments (pressure gauges, temperature sensors, flow meters, control valves).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot instrumentation and control system failures.
• Perform preventative maintenance on instruments and associated equipment.
• Interpret P&ID diagrams and electrical schematics for installation and maintenance.
• Work with control systems (PLCs and DCS) for troubleshooting and minor adjustments.
• Ensure work is performed safely and in compliance with standards and procedures.
