Job summary

SMEC South Africa (Pty) Ltd, contracted by SANRAL, invites applications for a Project Liaison Officer for a fixed-term contract in Durban. The role reports to the Project Engineer and supports PLC coordination, targeted labour records and community liaison activities on the SANRAL N.

003-012-2017/1R project. Essential requirements include Matric, a valid driver's license with own vehicle, and 1 year of relevant experience in liaison, project management or administration.

Qualifications

• Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including report writing and minute taking.
• Good verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
• Project planning and implementation along with problem solving and decision making; construction experience an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide Secretariat function to the Project Liaison Committee (PLC).
• Manage day-to-day operations of the site under direction from Contract Engineer and Resident Engineer.
• Facilitate and coordinate labour matters on site.
• Assist PLC to resolve disputes that may occur on the Project.
• Keep records of all documents and processes pertaining to Targeted Labour.
• Produce and submit a monthly PLC report including attendees, targeted labour, stakeholder issues and project matters.
• Plan, coordinate and implement community liaison activities.
