Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Community Liaison Officer to be the main contact between mining operations near Soweto and local communities. You will foster positive relationships, manage communications, and facilitate issue resolution to minimize disruptions.

The role requires 3+ years in community liaison or public relations within mining, with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, and a drive for CSR in a mining context.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Social Sciences, Communications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in community liaison, stakeholder engagement, or public relations, preferably in mining.
• Strong understanding of local community structures and social dynamics.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse environment.
• Proficiency in local languages is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with community leaders and members.
• Facilitate effective communication between the mining operation and the local communities.
• Address community grievances and concerns promptly and professionally.
• Organize and participate in community meetings and engagement initiatives.
• Support the implementation of community development programs.
• Report on community relations activities and feedback to management.
