About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer with a strong background in structural design and construction to join their established team in East London . This role is central to the successful delivery of key infrastructure and building projects within the region. You will be involved in the entire project lifecycle, from conceptual design and detailed structural analysis to overseeing construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to specifications. This is an ideal position for a detail-oriented engineer looking to contribute significantly to major projects in the Eastern Cape.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for various types of structures, including buildings, bridges, and industrial facilities.


• Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations using industry-standard software.


• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and building codes.


• Provide technical support and site supervision during the construction phase to ensure quality and adherence to design.


• Collaborate with architects, project managers, and contractors to resolve design and construction challenges.


• Conduct structural condition assessments and propose repair or refurbishment solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Structural Engineering.


• Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural design and construction supervision.


• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA or eligibility.


• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, ETABS) and CAD applications.


• In-depth knowledge of reinforced concrete, steel structures, and masonry design principles.


• Experience in managing construction projects from a technical perspective.
