Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of major port and coastal engineering projects.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules and resources for multimillion-rand projects.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Civil Project Manager with a specialization in port and coastal engineering for their operations in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . This senior role will be responsible for the successful delivery of complex marine and coastal infrastructure projects, including harbour expansions, breakwater construction, and shoreline protection works. You will manage all phases of the project lifecycle, from conceptualization and design through to construction and commissioning, ensuring project objectives related to scope, budget, schedule, and quality are met. This is a critical position within a leading engineering firm, offering the chance to lead high-profile projects in a dynamic maritime environment and contribute significantly to regional development. Your expertise in marine structures and project leadership will be essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of major port and coastal engineering projects.

• Lead and motivate multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, designers, and site personnel.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies specific to marine environments.
• Manage contractual agreements, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement with clients and regulatory bodies.
• Implement robust quality assurance and quality control processes throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil or Coastal Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA.
• Proven track record of at least 10 years in managing large-scale port and coastal infrastructure projects .
• Demonstrated expertise in areas such as breakwater design, quay wall construction, dredging, and maritime structures.
• Strong financial acumen and experience in contract negotiation and administration.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
