Placements24 is seeking dedicated Catering Staff Members to join its events team in Soweto, Gauteng. You will assist with event setup, serve guests, replenish stations, and help with breakdown and cleanup to ensure events run smoothly and successfully.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in customer service or hospitality is advantageous but not required.
• Willingness to learn and a positive attitude.
• Good communication and guest interaction skills.

• Physical stamina to stand and perform tasks during events.
• Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Must reside in or be able to commute to Soweto, Gauteng.

About the Role

Our client, a well-established catering service provider in the vibrant community of Soweto, Gauteng , is looking for dedicated and reliable Catering Staff Members to join their events team. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about providing excellent service and enjoy working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. You will be involved in various aspects of event support, from setup and food service to breakdown and cleanup, ensuring our clients' events run smoothly and successfully.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the setup of event spaces, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, and decorations according to event plans.
• Serve food and beverages to guests in a courteous and efficient manner, adhering to service standards.
• Replenish food and beverage stations as needed to ensure availability throughout the event.
• Clear tables, remove used dishes, and maintain the cleanliness of dining and service areas.
• Assist with the breakdown of event spaces after the function concludes.
• Handle food and beverage items with care, adhering to hygiene and safety protocols.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and catering equipment, and ensure they are stored properly.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and event managers to ensure smooth operations.
• Report any concerns or issues encountered during service to the relevant supervisor.
• Provide general support to the catering team as required to ensure overall event success.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role is advantageous but not essential.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact positively with guests and colleagues.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions effectively.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weight, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as dictated by event schedules.
• Reliability and punctuality are essential.

• Must reside in or be able to commute to the Soweto, Gauteng area.
