Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to spearhead the automotive division in Cape Town, leading the design and engineering of next-generation components and systems. You will oversee a team of engineers, manage project timelines, and ensure technical excellence across mechanical aspects of the product line.

Requirements include a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, 10+ years in mechanical product development with 3+ years in leadership, and strong CAD/CAE proficiency

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years in mechanical product development, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
• Experience with advanced CAD/CAE tools and launching complex products.
• Deep knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in CATIA and ANSYS.

Responsabilités

• Lead the mechanical design process for new product development projects from concept to launch.
• Oversee and guide the work of mechanical design engineers, ensuring adherence to project goals and quality standards.
• Develop detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and comprehensive technical specifications for mechanical components and systems.
• Perform advanced engineering calculations and simulations (e.g., stress analysis, thermal analysis) to validate designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineering, software development, and industrial design.
• Manage relationships with external vendors and suppliers for component sourcing and manufacturing.
