About the Role

Our client seeks a visionary Lead Mechanical Engineer to spearhead product development initiatives in their Cape Town facility. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and prototyping innovative mechanical solutions that meet stringent performance requirements and market demands. This role involves leading a team of engineers, managing project timelines, and ensuring the successful integration of mechanical systems into new product lines. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design process for new product development projects from concept to launch.
• Oversee and guide the work of mechanical design engineers, ensuring adherence to project goals and quality standards.
• Develop detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and comprehensive technical specifications for mechanical components and systems.
• Perform advanced engineering calculations and simulations (e.g., stress analysis , thermal analysis) to validate designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineering, software development, and industrial design.
• Manage relationships with external vendors and suppliers for component sourcing and manufacturing.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent advanced technical degree.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical product development, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
• Extensive experience with advanced CAD/CAE tools and a proven track record of successfully launching complex products.
• Deep knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams effectively.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
