Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for Johannesburg to lead the design and development of automotive mechanical systems. You will utilize CATIA/SolidWorks for detailed design and drawings, and perform stress and thermal analyses to ensure optimal performance.

The role requires 7+ years in automotive design, a strong materials and manufacturing background, and mentoring abilities. This is a full-time on-site position in Johannesburg with competitive pay and growth potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years in mechanical design for automotive.
• Proven CAD/CAE proficiency for design, simulation and analysis.
• Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing and automotive integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of mechanical systems for automotive projects with focus on performance and manufacturability.
• Use CATIA/SolidWorks for detailed design, analysis and drawings.
• Perform stress and thermal analyses and other simulations to validate designs.
• Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve design challenges.
• Create and maintain technical documentation including specs, tests and BOM.
• Mentor junior engineers on technical approaches and best practices.
