Job summary

Placements24 seeks a dedicated Janitorial Services Manager for its client, a group of educational institutions in Paarl, Western Cape. You will lead a team of janitorial staff, develop cleaning programs, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards across classrooms, labs, dormitories, and offices.

The role requires at least 5 years in janitorial or facilities management, strong supervision, and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in janitorial services, facilities management, or related field, preferably educational/institutional setting.
• Experience supervising and managing a cleaning team.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and best practices for diverse environments.
• Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to cleaning operations.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with staff, students, and administration.
• Ability to develop and manage budgets and maintain inventory records.
• Physical ability to perform inspections and occasional hands-on cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive janitorial and sanitation programs for all campus facilities.
• Supervise, train, and schedule a team of janitorial staff for efficient service delivery.
• Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds to assess cleanliness and safety and identify maintenance needs.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and tools with cost-effective procurement.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, including waste management and chemical handling.
• Respond to cleaning emergencies, spills, and special requests.
• Maintain records of cleaning activities, staff performance, inventory, and budget expenditures.
• Liaise with administration, faculty, and departments to address cleaning requirements.
