Placements24 is recruiting on behalf of a distinguished educational institution in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, to appoint a Lead Custodial Services Supervisor. The role leads a team of custodial staff, oversees daily operations, and ensures campus facilities meet the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and presentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in custodial services or building maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Proven experience in managing cleaning staff and operations in a large facility, preferably an educational or institutional setting.
• Strong knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and best practices for various surfaces and environments.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations (e.g., COSHH, OSHA equivalents).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and direct the daily activities of the custodial services team.
• Develop and implement comprehensive cleaning schedules for all campus buildings and grounds.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and orderliness.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and PPE, ensuring adequate stock and proper usage.
• Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and institutional policies.
• Respond promptly to custodial needs and emergencies, such as spills or damages.
• Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to coordinate cleaning services for special events.
• Maintain records of staff performance, work completed, and supplies used.
• Implement best practices for waste management and recycling across campus.
• Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.
