Key Responsibilities
Beverage Service
- Take drink orders accurately and efficiently from guests, both at the bar and in designated seating areas.
- Utilize your beverage knowledge to recommend drinks that suit guest preferences, including classic cocktails, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic options.
- Prepare a variety of cocktails, following recipes precisely and maintaining quality and consistency.
- Check proper identification for alcoholic beverages and serve responsibly.
- Serve beverages with confidence, using appropriate glassware and maintaining a clean presentation.
Guest Service
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring guests have a positive and enjoyable experience.
- Anticipate guest needs, proactively offering suggestions to enhance the experience.
- Build rapport with guests by remembering preferences and offering personalized recommendations.
- Handle challenging situations professionally, addressing complaints and finding solutions to maintain satisfaction.
- Assist guests with menu selections, dietary requirements, and special requests.
Revenue Generation
- Actively upsell, suggestive sell, and cross-sell to maximize revenue per guest.
- Collaborate with management to implement promotional initiatives and drive revenue growth.
- Meet and exceed individual revenue targets for food and beverage on a weekly and monthly basis.
Bar Upkeep & Maintenance
- Maintain a clean and well-stocked bar throughout your shift.
- Restock supplies, clean equipment, and follow all sanitation protocols.
- Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the Bar Manager.
Inventory Management
- Participate in inventory control by keeping track of liquor, beer, and other bar supplies.
- Conduct daily stock takes and report wastage.
- Assist with ordering supplies as needed.
Qualifications & Education Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age (or legal drinking age in your jurisdiction).
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of bartending experience in a fast-paced environment preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Strong knowledge of alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beers, wines, and spirits.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to stand for long periods and move quickly throughout the bar.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to exceptional service.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills are a plus.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new drink recipes and techniques.
- Familiarity with restaurant management software and POS systems is advantageous.
