About the Role

Our client, a prestigious five-star hotel in the heart of Durban , is looking for an experienced and dynamic Banqueting Manager to oversee all aspects of their banqueting and events operations. This is a pivotal role requiring exceptional leadership, organizational, and client-facing skills. You will be responsible for ensuring the flawless execution of a wide range of events, from conferences and weddings to gala dinners and cocktail receptions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, a meticulous attention to detail, and a proven ability to manage a team and exceed client expectations in a high-volume, luxury environment. Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate all banqueting events hosted at the hotel in Durban , ensuring seamless service delivery. Supervise, train, and schedule the banqueting staff, including servers, hosts, and bar attendants. Liaise directly with clients to understand their needs, plan event details, and ensure their vision is brought to life. Develop and maintain event setups, ensuring they are in line with client specifications and hotel standards. Oversee the bar service and beverage operations during banqueting events. Monitor event execution on the floor, proactively addressing any issues to ensure guest satisfaction. Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure timely and accurate food and beverage delivery. Manage inventory of banqueting supplies, linen, and equipment, and ensure proper upkeep. Achieve and exceed revenue targets for the banqueting department. Maintain the hotel's reputation for excellence in event management and hospitality.

Requirements

Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar Banqueting Manager or Events Manager role, preferably within a luxury hotel or high-end catering environment. Strong understanding of event planning, logistics, and service standards. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse team. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, managing multiple events simultaneously. Proficiency in event management software and MS Office Suite. A passion for delivering outstanding customer service and memorable experiences. Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as required by event schedules. Based in or willing to relocate to Durban .
