Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a senior Aviation Safety Officer in Durban to enhance safety protocols across our aviation facilities. This hybrid role combines on-site assessments with remote analysis to ensure compliance with ICAO SARPs, EASA, and local regulations, and to develop, implement, and monitor SMS across the organization.

You will lead risk assessments, investigations of incidents, and the delivery of safety training while promoting a strong safety culture and staying current with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Safety Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive aviation safety management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of ICAO SARPs, EASA and local regulations.
• Proven experience developing and implementing SMS.
• Strong analytical, reporting and presentation skills.
• SMS training certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's SMS.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of operations.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; identify root causes and actions.
• Develop and deliver aviation safety training programs for staff.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance with aviation legislation.
• Analyze safety data and produce reports for management decisions.
