Placements24 seeks an Aviation Safety Manager in Cape Town to oversee and enhance the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring compliance with SACAA and ICAO standards while promoting a proactive safety culture.

You will develop policies, conduct audits, train staff, and liaise with authorities. A minimum of 7 years in aviation safety is required, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in aviation safety management or a related field.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing Safety Management Systems (SMS).
• In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations (SACAA, ICAO Annex 19) and safety principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential safety risks across all operations.
• Investigate safety incidents and occurrences, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff, promoting awareness and a proactive safety culture.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the organization remains compliant with all relevant aviation safety legislation.
• Act as the primary point of contact for aviation safety matters with regulatory authorities and other external stakeholders in Cape Town.
