Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Aviation Safety Officer to join our client’s Richards Bay operations. You will develop, implement and oversee the organization’s aviation safety management system (SMS), conduct audits, risk assessments and incident investigations to uphold high safety standards.

The role requires ICAO knowledge, familiarity with EASA/FAA regulations and strong analytical, communication and leadership skills to promote a proactive safety culture across all departments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in aviation safety management or regulatory compliance.
• Hold a relevant aviation qualification or certification in safety management.
• In-depth knowledge of ICAO standards, EASA/FAA regulations and local aviation laws.
• Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, hazard identification and incident investigation techniques.
• Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to influence and lead change across different departments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage the organization’s Aviation Safety Management System (SMS).
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections and risk assessments across all operational areas.
• Investigate aviation incidents and accidents, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programmes to all levels of staff.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the organization’s compliance with all relevant aviation safety regulations.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, awareness campaigns and leadership engagement.
