Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Aviation Operations Controller in Soweto to manage daily flight operations, coordinate flight schedules, monitor progress, and liaise with pilots, ATC and ground services to ensure safe, compliant operations.

Ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Aviation Management or related field with at least 3 years’ experience in aviation operations, and strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills for high-pressure environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years in aviation operations control or related role.
• Strong knowledge of flight operations, ATC procedures, and meteorology.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
• Proficiency with flight planning software and databases.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage daily flight schedules and optimize routes.
• Monitor real-time flight progress and weather conditions.
• Coordinate with pilots, crew, maintenance and ground staff.
• Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and safety standards.
• Handle disruptions, delays, diversions, and contingencies.
• Maintain accurate operational records and post-flight reports.
