Placements24 is seeking an Airline Operations Controller for a major South African airline based in Pretoria. The role ensures safe, efficient and punctual flight operations by monitoring progress, managing disruptions and coordinating with flight crews, dispatch, and ground teams.

Ideal candidates have at least four years in airline operations, solid knowledge of flight planning, meteorology and aviation regulations, plus excellent decision‑making and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management or related field.
• Minimum 4 years in airline operations.
• Strong knowledge of flight planning and meteorology.
• Experience with aviation regulations.
• Ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the status of all scheduled flights, ensuring adherence to the flight plan and schedule.
• Manage and coordinate responses to operational disruptions such as weather delays, technical issues, and air traffic control restrictions.
• Liaise effectively with flight crews, ground staff, maintenance, and external agencies to ensure smooth operations.
• Authorize flight plans, manage crew resources, and ensure compliance with duty time regulations.
• Make critical decisions regarding flight dispatch, diversions, and cancellations to maintain safety and efficiency.
• Utilize flight tracking software and communication systems to maintain real‑time situational awareness.
