Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Assistant Store Manager for a Polokwane-based retail store. You will support store operations, lead a team, manage inventory and execute merchandising plans while achieving sales targets.

The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years in retail management, strong leadership, and a passion for customer service. Flexible hours, weekends, and holidays are required, with growth opportunities within a dynamic specialty retailer.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years in retail management or a supervisory role.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and motivate a retail team.
• Strong understanding of retail operations, inventory control and visual merchandising.
• Excellent customer service skills with ability to resolve issues.
• Proficiency with POS systems and retail management software.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Must be located in or able to reliably commute to Polokwane, Limpopo.

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations, from daily tasks to strategic planning.
• Lead and motivate a team of retail associates, providing guidance, training, and performance support.
• Ensure consistent delivery of outstanding customer service, resolving issues and enhancing the shopping experience.
• Oversee inventory management, including stock counts, merchandising, and loss prevention strategies.
• Assist in implementing visual merchandising directives to create an attractive and engaging store environment.
• Drive sales performance by coaching the team and implementing effective sales strategies.
• Manage opening and closing procedures, ensuring store security and operational readiness.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and health and safety standards.
• Deputize for the Store Manager in their absence, ensuring seamless operations.
• Contribute to creating a positive and collaborative work culture within the store team.
