Job summary

Tsebo Solutions Group is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance professional for on-site work in Cape Town. The role involves preventative maintenance on mechanical, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems, plus responding to breakdowns and fault diagnosis to minimise downtime.

You will ensure compliance with safety, quality, and manufacturer specifications, maintain records, and support asset care and client satisfaction in a busy facilities environment.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric or NQF Level 4 is required.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical maintenance, refrigeration, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative maintenance on mechanical, HVAC, and refrigeration equipment.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and breakdowns.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimise downtime.
• Ensure work adheres to operational standards and manufacturer specs.
• Report defects and risks to Foreman or Technician.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
• Deliver professional service to clients and stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

Mechanical Maintenance and Repairs

• Perform planned preventative maintenance on mechanical, air-conditioning, and refrigeration equipment as assigned.
• Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and breakdowns.
• Assist in diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to minimise equipment downtime.
• Ensure maintenance activities are completed in accordance with operational standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Report equipment defects, risks, and recurring faults to the Foreman or Technician.

Maintenance Planning and Administration

• Compile and submit accurate maintenance checklists and inspection reports.
• Provide material and spare part requirements to support maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work and equipment status.
• Assist with asset inspections and condition assessments.

Housekeeping and Asset Care

• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are stored correctly and maintained in good working condition.
• Assist in controlling and safeguarding company assets and resources.

Customer Service

• Deliver professional and courteous service to clients, students, staff, and stakeholders.
• Communicate maintenance requirements and progress clearly to supervisors and relevant stakeholders.
• Support the achievement of client satisfaction and contractual service standards.

SHEQ Compliance

• Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) policies and procedures.
• Follow safe work practices and use prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Report incidents, hazards, and unsafe conditions immediately.
• Support compliance with applicable ISO standards and regulatory requirements.

Ad Hoc Duties

• Perform any reasonable work-related duties assigned by management.
• Provide support to other technical disciplines when operationally required

Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge of mechanical, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
• Understanding of preventative and corrective maintenance principles.
• Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and general building services.
• Ability to use maintenance tools, equipment, and materials safely and effectively.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical instructions and procedures.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical maintenance, refrigeration, air-conditioning, or a related technical environment.
• Experience working in building maintenance environments will be advantageous.
