Bidvest Facilities Management is seeking an experienced HVAC engineer to design, install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems across client facilities.

The role emphasizes delivering planned and emergency maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety standards and contributing to project budgeting and scheduling.

Qualifications

• Matric (Senior Certificate) is required.
• N6 in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Trade-Test in HVAC (Air-conditioning & Refrigeration) is required.
• 5 years’ artesan experience in HVAC/refrigeration is required.
• Valid SA Driver’s License is required.
• 5+ years in air-conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation maintenance & digital control systems.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems for optimal performance and efficiency.
• Manage HVAC projects from inception to completion, including budgeting and scheduling.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of HVAC equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC system issues.
• Adhere to safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians for smooth operation.
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff.

Job description

ROLE PURPOSE

To efficiently design, install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The role is responsible for delivering high‑quality planned, preventative, and emergency maintenance on a range of equipment, including air‑conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and water reticulation systems. Ensuring alignment with the organization's maintenance strategy while upholding exceptional client service standards.

MAIN OUTPUTS

• Designing HVAC systems for optimal performance and efficiency
• Managing HVAC projects from inception to completion, including budgeting and scheduling
• Conducting regular inspections and maintenance of HVAC equipment

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

The Applicant must meet the following requirements:

• Matric (Senior Certificate)
• N6 in Mechanical Engineering
• Trade-Test in HVAC (Air-conditioning & Refrigeration)
• 5 years’ experience as an artesian
• Valid SA Driver’s License
• 5yrs relevant experience in air-conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation equipment maintenance field & digital control systems, min 5yr experience in Trade
• Maintenance of air-conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation equipment & water reticulation systems
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems and components
• MS Word, MS Excel & MS Outlook (Intermediate skill level)
• SAP knowledge
• Knowledge of OHS Act
