You will work with farmers, cooperatives, processors, and government agencies to drive efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness in the North West region. Strategic planning and hands-on project implementation are essential.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is a leading agribusiness firm focused on strengthening agricultural value chains and is seeking an experienced Agribusiness Development Manager for their operations in Mahikeng . This role is critical for identifying, developing, and managing projects that enhance farmer livelihoods, improve market access, and foster sustainable growth within specific crop value chains. The successful candidate will work closely with farmers, cooperatives, processors, and other stakeholders to drive efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness across the agricultural sector. This position requires a strong understanding of agribusiness principles, market dynamics, and project management, coupled with excellent relationship-building skills. You will play a key role in shaping the future of agriculture in the North West province by creating more robust and profitable value chains. The role involves strategic planning and hands-on implementation to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and develop new business opportunities within targeted agricultural value chains. Manage the implementation of agribusiness development projects from inception to completion, ensuring objectives are met within budget and timeline. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including farmers, farmer organizations, buyers, input suppliers, and government agencies. Conduct market analysis and value chain assessments to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement. Provide technical assistance and training to farmers and cooperatives on business management, financial literacy, and market access. Facilitate linkages between farmers and markets, including contract negotiations and quality assurance. Monitor project performance, impact, and financial sustainability, reporting on progress and outcomes. Contribute to the development of strategies for the sustainable growth of the agribusiness sector in the region. Stay abreast of industry trends, policies, and innovations relevant to agribusiness development.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in agribusiness development, project management, or a related role within the agricultural sector. Proven experience in value chain analysis and development. Strong understanding of agricultural markets, farmer organizations, and rural economies. Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including farmers at the grassroots level. Experience in the North West province or similar agricultural regions is an advantage. A valid driver's license is required.
