Placements24 in South Africa is seeking an Agribusiness Development Officer to empower smallholder farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs in Mahikeng and the North West region. You will provide technical assistance, help develop business plans, facilitate market access, and deliver training to improve productivity and profitability.

The role requires strong knowledge of agricultural value chains, ability to work in rural settings, and willingness to travel extensively within the Mahikeng area.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in agricultural development, extension services, or agribusiness consulting.
• Proven experience in providing business development support and technical assistance to farmers.
• Strong understanding of agricultural value chains, market dynamics, and financial management principles.
• Excellent training, facilitation, and communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Provide technical and advisory support to farmers on best agricultural practices, crop management, and livestock husbandry.
• Assist farmers in developing sound business plans, financial projections, and marketing strategies.
• Facilitate market access for farmers by identifying buyers, negotiating contracts, and supporting value chain linkages.
• Organize and conduct training workshops on various agribusiness topics, including financial literacy, farm management, and value addition.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and technology adoption within the agricultural sector.
• Monitor the progress of supported agribusinesses and provide ongoing guidance and mentorship.
• Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies for new agricultural projects.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, cooperatives, government agencies, and private sector stakeholders in the Mahikeng area.
• Collect and analyze data on agricultural production, market trends, and socio-economic impact.
• Prepare regular reports on activities, outcomes, and challenges.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the organization's strategic initiatives.
• Promote sustainable and climate-smart agricultural practices.
