A healthcare organization is seeking a Clinical Documentation Specialist to work remotely in Rochester. The candidate will be responsible for reviewing medical records and ensuring accurate documentation related to severity of illness and risk of mortality. Required qualifications include a registered nursing degree and 3-5 years of experience in acute care. Ideal candidates possess organizational and analytical skills, along with a strong understanding of pathophysiology. The position offers a salary range of $78,000 - $95,000.
The CDS facilitates accurate documentation for severity of illness, expected risk of mortality, complexity of care and quality in the medical record. This involves extensive record review and interaction with members of the healthcare team and ancillary teams.

SCHEDULE: Day shift
OR a degree in Health Information Management (Associate’s Degree with RHIT; Bachelor’s Degree with RHIA)
RN, PA, NP, MBBS or MD prepared candidates. If hired after January 1, 2017: Must obtain CCDS certification within 30 months of hire.
For Skilled Nursing Facility Only: Valid RN or LPN license, or other applicable professional license, or RHIT, or RHIA
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
