Job summary

Summitbsa in West Virginia seeks a Camp Manager to oversee Eagle Flight, Gateway, and Legacy zips, train staff, ensure safety, and deliver a high-quality program.

You will monitor equipment, evaluate staff, manage inventories, and uphold policies with SBR leadership; housing and a staff uniform are provided as part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 21+.
  • BSA COP E Direction National Camp School Card required (training provided).
  • At least 1 year of leading teams; Summit employment preferred.
  • Documented zip line work experience.
  • Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (background screening).
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work communication.

  • Monitor equipment conditions and report deficiencies to remove unsafe equipment and modify operations.
  • Provide periodic performance evaluations of staff and partake in any disciplinary actions.

  • Effectively maintain a training and practitioner experience portfolio.
  • Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions.
  • Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook.

Job description

Position Overview

Responsible for overseeing the operation and management of Eagle Flight, Gateway, and Legacy zips, and zip staff. This manager will provide training, customer service and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train and manage staff to have the knowledge to carry out a safe, impactful, and fun program
  • Monitor equipment conditions and report deficiencies to remove unsafe equipment and modify operations
  • Provide periodic performance evaluations of staff and partake in any disciplinary actions
  • Maintain Inventory control for program operations, equipment, and facilities
  • Effectively maintain a training and practitioner experience portfolio
  • Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
  • Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
  • Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook
Qualifications
  • Minimum age: 21+
  • Required: BSA C.O.P.E. Direction National Camp School Card (training provided)
  • Required 1+ yr. leading teams, Prefer 1+ Summit employment
  • Documented Zip line work experience
  • Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)

Physical & Practical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and hike up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds
  • Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
  • Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55
