Job summary

The City of Santa Monica is seeking a Resource Recovery Collections Superintendent to plan, organize, and coordinate the operation of the Resource Recovery and Recycling Collections Section. Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree or 60 college units; substitutions allowed.
• Experience: 4+ years in operation/maintenance of integrated solid waste collections.
• Supervisory: at least 2 years supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Select, train, supervise, and assign work to supervisory, collections, and customer service staff.
• Establishes and approves work schedules; monitors workflow; evaluates staff.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise integrated waste collection to meet zero waste goals.
• Develop and modify collection routes, maintenance schedules, and customer service processes.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local laws and regulations.
• Enforce solid waste ordinances and issue citations.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports.
• Make presentations to public and community groups.
• Represent the Division at meetings with other City divisions.
