Job summary

City of Temple is seeking a Division Director for Disposal & Special Collections to lead solid waste and recycling operations and oversee budgeting, reporting, and customer-focused service delivery.

The ideal candidate will have strong managerial and analytical skills, experience in solid waste operations, and a commitment to environmental sustainability and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination
• Minimum 5 years in solid waste, recycling, public works, or related field
• 3 years in a managerial role
• Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversees Brush, Bulk, and Roll-off collection operations
• Provide direction to the recycling processing division
• Oversee budgeting, billing, and financial reporting
• Assist the Director with strategic planning and fiscal management
• Evaluate customer feedback to identify service improvements
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve performance and customer satisfaction
• Direct recycling program initiatives to maximize material recovery
• Track program performance and implement efficiency improvements
• Stay informed on industry trends in recycling and waste diversion
• Partner with local government and community organizations to strengthen visibility and impact
• Ensure compliance with city policies, procedures, and safety standards
• Perform other duties as assigned
