Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Safety Engineer II to implement the Zero Injury Safety program at a project site in Lincoln, NE, ensuring a safe work environment for crew, subcontractors, and visitors. The role requires interaction with staff at all levels in a dynamic construction setting.

Responsibilities include implementing safety programs at each worksite, conducting safety orientations, audits, and incident analyses, and coordinating OSHA reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or related field;
• High school diploma, STS/CHST Certification, OSHA 30 Hour Training, and seven years of continuous construction safety experience.
• Minimum of one year of related experience.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and pertinent safety-related software programs.
• Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate company policies to team members and outside parties.
• Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Effective public speaking and presentation skills.
• Current driver's license.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite for team members
• Assist project management team in developing and executing site-specific safety programs and activities
• Attend, coordinate, and conduct safety orientation and training programs at the project level
• Document and track all safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc.
• Conduct work area safety audits
• Conduct project’s leading and trailing indicator data/document collection and trend analyses
• Conduct or assist with major incident analysis
• Record, monitor, and analyze Safety, Injury, and Hazard statistics
• Coordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirements
