Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Safety Engineer I to implement the Zero Injury Safety program at project sites, ensuring a safe environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors. You will work with staff at all levels in a fast-paced construction setting.

The role requires coordinating safety training, tracking incidents, and collaborating with client safety personnel while managing safety budgets and contributing to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred in occupational safety, health, or related field.
• OSHA 30 Hour training with minimum five years of continuous construction experience (CHST/STS don't necessarily replace experience).
• Experience administering safety programs, conducting hazard analyses, developing controls, implementing safeguards, and contributing to safe work activity plans.
• Detail oriented with ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Current driver's license; ability to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite and develop site-specific safety plans.
• Document safety violations, conduct audits, and analyze leading/trailing indicators.
• Coordinate OSHA reporting and review safety submittals.
• Monitor trade partner safety and manage Return to Work assignments.
• Interface with client safety personnel and accompany safety staff on site tours.
• Manage safety budget and participate in safety meetings.
