Job summary

Mortenson seeks a Safety Engineer II to implement the Zero Injury Safety program at project sites and to ensure a safe environment for staff, subcontractors, and visitors. The role requires interaction across levels in a dynamic construction setting.

The ideal candidate has a safety-focused degree or equivalent with hands-on safety program leadership, strong communication, and the ability to travel up to 100%. A competitive base pay and benefits package accompany this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or related field.
• High school diploma with safety certifications OR STS/CHST Certification and OSHA 30 Hour Training with 7+ years of construction safety leadership.
• Minimum of one year of related experience.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety-related software programs.
• Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite for team members
• Assist project management in developing site-specific safety programs and activities
• Attend, coordinate, and conduct safety orientation and training programs at the project level
• Document and track safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc.
• Conduct work area safety audits
• Collect and analyze leading/trailing indicator data and trend analyses
• Perform or assist with major incident analysis
• Record, monitor, and analyze safety statistics
• Coordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirements
