Job summary

The City of Leander in Texas is seeking a friendly Library Assistant to help customers find materials, answer routine questions, and support children's and youth programs. You will staff the desk, share information on services, and assist with program planning and setup.

The role emphasizes inclusivity, customer service, and collaboration with library staff. Evenings, weekends, and occasional shifts may be required; prior library or customer service experience is preferred to welcome diverse

Qualifications

High School Diploma or its equivalent.
One year of customer service experience.
Six months working in a library OR four credit hours from an accredited college or university in Library Science or related field.
Ability to work hours outside the traditional schedule including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

Assist library patrons at the children's room desk and with routine transactions.
Provide accurate information about library policies, services, and programs.
Promote library programs and special events for customers.
Assist with planning, preparing, and delivering children's and youth programs.
Assist with program materials, setup, and cleanup.
Maintain a welcoming, inclusive environment and assist with attendance/registration.
