Job summary

The City of Tyler invites applications for a Youth Services Librarian who will coordinate day-to-day services, programs, collections, and outreach within the Youth Services Department under the Library Services and Programming Manager. Qualifications

• Master’s degree in library science, Information Science, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day workflow, service coverage, programs, projects, and operational needs of the Youth Services Department.
• Provides day-to-day guidance and support to Youth Services staff, coordinates work assignments, and helps ensure responsibilities are completed accurately.
• Plan, develop, promote, deliver, and evaluate programs, classes, activities, and events for youth audiences.
• Provide reference, reader’s advisory, research, and information assistance to patrons and connect them with resources.
• Maintain welcoming, engaging youth spaces and develop displays and reading lists to encourage reading.
• Develop relationships with schools and community partners and coordinate outreach activities and events.
• Maintain departmental records and assist with procedures, improvements, and projects.
• Explain and apply library policies and respond to patron concerns, referring complex issues when needed.
• Stay current on youth literature and programming and collaborate across library departments.
