Job summary

City of Austin’s Pleasant Hill Branch is seeking a Library Associate for part-time, 20 hours per week. Under limited supervision, you will support daily library operations, assist patrons, and help with programs and outreach.

You will provide high-quality customer service, technology assistance, and collaboration with librarians and staff. A relevant Associate degree with one year of related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree plus one year of related experience.
• Experience may substitute for education up to two years.
• Strong customer service and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide service at public service desks.
• Check materials in/out, pull holds, shelve items, assist with tech questions.
• Create programs and outreach based on community needs and priorities.
• Respond to inquiries in person, by phone, or online; refer complex cases.
• Provide administrative support including scheduling, mail, and supplies.
• Maintain data, records and reports; prepare memos and letters.
• Guide other Library Associates as needed.
