Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington in Germantown, MD is seeking a part-time Youth Program Assistant to support activities in Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education for ages 6-18.

The role emphasizes creating a SAFE environment, promoting program participation, mentoring youth, coordinating activities, and collaborating with staff and volunteers to ensure engaging, safe programming.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with children.
• Ability to use modern mobile apps (TikTok, ClassDojo, Instagram, and others).
• Knowledge of youth development.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Ability to interact with the general public.
• Ability to plan and implement quality youth programs.
• Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Create a SAFE environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
• Promote program participation and ensure the five key elements of positive youth development daily.
• Provide guidance and act as a mentor to assure conduct, safety and development of all members.
• Help maintain facilities and equipment and report major issues to supervisor.
• Maintain close professional contact with staff, supervisor, and volunteers to communicate on Club operations and member needs.
• Effectively implement and administer programs for drop-in members and visitors ages 6-18.
• Monitor safety and quality of programs; prepare period reports and participate in weekly staff meetings.
