Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington in Germantown, MD is seeking a part-time Youth Program Assistant to support activities in Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education for ages 6-18.

The role emphasizes creating a SAFE environment, promoting program participation, mentoring youth, coordinating activities, and collaborating with staff and volunteers to ensure engaging, safe programming.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
Experience working with children.
Ability to use modern mobile apps (TikTok, ClassDojo, Instagram, and others).
Knowledge of youth development.
Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
Ability to interact with the general public.
Ability to plan and implement quality youth programs.
Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
CPR and First Aid certifications required.
Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Create a SAFE environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
Promote program participation and ensure the five key elements of positive youth development daily.
Provide guidance and act as a mentor to assure conduct, safety and development of all members.
Help maintain facilities and equipment and report major issues to supervisor.
Maintain close professional contact with staff, supervisor, and volunteers to communicate on Club operations and member needs.
Effectively implement and administer programs for drop-in members and visitors ages 6-18.
Monitor safety and quality of programs; prepare period reports and participate in weekly staff meetings.
