Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington in Alexandria, VA seeks a part-time Youth Program Assistant to support education, social recreation, arts & crafts and physical education, ensuring a safe, engaging environment for youth aged 6-18. You will promote participation, maintain facilities, assist with member registration, and help deliver programs.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, experience with children, CPR/First Aid certification, and a valid driver’s license; familiarity

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
Experience working with children and youth essential.
CPR and First Aid certifications required.
Ability to operate technology and mobile apps (TikTok, Class Dojo, Instagram, and more).
Knowledge of youth development.
Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
Respectful communication with the general public.
Ability to plan and implement engaging programs for youth.
Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Create a SAFE environment that facilitates Youth Development Outcomes.
Promote program participation and ensure key elements of positive youth development.
Maintain facilities and equipment, report major issues to supervisor.
Provide guidance and be a role model to members.
Communicate with staff and volunteers about operations and member needs.
Implement and administer programs for drop-in members and visitors ages 6-18.
Monitor safety, program quality, and appearance of the branch.
Participate in weekly branch staff meetings and reports.
