Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington is seeking staff to support activities across Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education for members aged 6-18. You will help create a safe, engaging environment and mentor youth in daily development goals.

You will implement programs, monitor safety and quality, and collaborate with staff and volunteers. Role requires CPR/First Aid certification, a high school diploma, and a driver’s license; DC-area location expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience in working with children.
• Ability to operate recent technology and mobile applications (Tik Tok, Class Dojo, Instagram, and more).
• Knowledge of youth development.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Ability to deal with the general public.
• Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
• Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
• Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Youth for Success: create a SAFE environment and promote program participation while ensuring the five elements of positive youth development occur daily.
• Ensure the physical and emotional health and safety of club members at all times and mentor members as needed.
• Maintain facilities and equipment, report major issues to supervisor, and communicate with staff and volunteers about operations.
• Administer and implement programs for drop-in members aged 6-18, monitor safety, and evaluate program quality.
• Participate in weekly branch staff meetings and assist with reports and feedback.
• Participate in other unit activities and events as necessary; assist in new member registration and orientation.
