Job summary

The YMCA of Western North Carolina is seeking an Afterschool Program Coordinator to lead the Out-of-School Time (OST) program at a Buncombe County site in Asheville, NC. The role requires coordinating daily activities, supervising staff, and partnering with schools, families, and community groups to deliver a high-quality program.

Qualifications include 21+ years of age, a high school diploma (Bachelor’s preferred), and DCDEE WORKS qualification within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred in youth development, recreation, or education.
• DCDEE WORKS Program Coordinator qualification within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant youth experience with admin/leadership duties.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day operation of the out-of-school-time program.
• Provide supervision and activities for the group of participants.
• Collaborate with Youth Services Directors to ensure compliance with policies.
• Maintain records and documentation as required.
• Orient and support program staff, tutors, and volunteers.
• Coordinate with school staff and community partners to meet participant needs.
• Regularly assess supplies, venues, and staffing; address issues with Directors.
• Plan and implement parent, family, and community engagement opportunities.
