Job summary

The YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina in Winnabow, NC is seeking an Afterschool Site Coordinator for the Winnabow area. This seasonal, part-time hourly role focuses on overseeing the afterschool program at the assigned school, partnering with staff and school administration to provide a high-quality program aligned with YMCA values.

Responsibilities include designing daily lesson plans, supervising children and staff, maintaining records, and engaging families.

Qualifications

• Two years or more of college preferred working towards a degree in education or related field.
• At least 21 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.
• 2 years' experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Previous experience with diverse populations and ability to develop positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
• Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
• Ensures parents are kept informed of all site and program activities and communicates both positive and negative behavior of children to parents.
• Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships with parents.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Maintains required program records including attendance sheets, incident sheets, and behavior reports; maintains CACFP records.
• Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
• Follows and implements the Healthy Eating and Physical Activity standards.
• Trains new staff on current YMCA policies and procedures.
• Supervises afterschool counselors; modify the schedule as necessary to maintain appropriate staff to student ratios and remain within budget.
• Develop relationships with school and community stakeholders to deepen YMCA-school relation.
