Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Part-time Childwatch Site Lead in Katy, TX. You will create a safe, engaging environment for children while parents participate in YMCA activities, lead activities, manage the site, and ensure adherence to safety policies.

Responsibilities include supervision, behavior management, program planning, record keeping, communication with families, and coordinating with staff.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older and have a HS diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year experience working with youth in childcare, church, school, or similar setting.
• Strong awareness of child safety and the ability to respond to emergencies.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required.
• Ability to engage with children positively and maintain a safe, learning-focused environment.
• Experience planning age-appropriate activities and implementing curriculum.
• Experience with diverse populations is preferred.
• Supervisory experience is a plus.
• Must meet local health/immunization requirements and pass background checks.
• Must pass TB test and provide necessary health documentation.
• Must pass local/state background and FBI fingerprinting check.

Responsibilities

• Site management: lead daily operations and ensure a safe, welcoming environment.
• Monitor safety and administer basic first aid when needed.
• Manage behavior using positive methods and redirection.
• Ensure policy compliance and accurate records are kept.
• Oversee age-appropriate activities per YMCA curriculum.
• Foster positive social interactions and inclusivity among children.
• Communicate with parents about progress and concerns.
• Maintain software check-in/out records and center communications.
• Support program growth and retention efforts.
• Ensure program quality and safety standards are met.
• Report concerns to Program Director and follow escalation procedures.

Education

At least 21 years of age

HS diploma or GED

1 year experience with youth

Strong child safety awareness

CPR/First Aid/AED certifications

Ability to engage with children positively

Ability to plan and implement activities

Experience with diverse populations

Experience supervising others (preferred)

TB/immunization requirements compliance

Background check and fingerprinting
