Job summary

Children & Families of Iowa is seeking a Credible Messenger to provide one-on-one mentoring and oversight of daily program operations under the guidance of the Program Coordinator and Program Director. You will mentor youth in the Credible Messenger program and support reentry planning with local facilities, schools, and community partners.

The role emphasizes timely data entry, confidentiality, and grant-mandated reporting, including weekly home visits and crisis support as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Lived experience with the Juvenile Justice system and/or personal lived experience.
• Experience with data collection and data entry.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Provide mentorship to other Credible Messengers and a willingness to undergo required training.
• Strong writing skills, with experience in writing court reports and testifying in court.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to youth; participate in training and community-building activities.
• Mentor youth involved in the Juvenile Justice system; develop and track goal achievement plans with youth.
• Follow referral processes as outlined in the grant and maintain confidentiality.
• Conduct weekly home visits and provide support at home or school.
• Ensure timely completion and submission of required data; offer crisis support as needed.
• Contact referred youth within 5 business days of receiving a referral and collaborate with JCS.
