Job summary

Tides Family Services, Inc. invites applications for a part-time Credible Messenger at the Youth Opportunity hub in Providence, RI. Mentors with lived experience support justice-involved youth at high risk, guiding positive life choices and connecting them to resources.

Responsibilities include mentoring ten+ hours per week per youth, building authentic relationships, promoting non-violent conflict resolution, and coordinating with DCYF, Family Court, and TFS staff to ensure holistic support.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with the juvenile or criminal justice systems
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexible evenings, weekends, and on-call as needed
• Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse youth needs
• Bilingual or multilingual capabilities
• Experience working with high-risk youth populations
• Understanding trauma-informed care

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain caring, authentic relationships with youth
• Provide intensive mentoring, dedicating ten or more hours per week per youth
• Use lived experiences to offer guidance, support, and resources
• Promote non-violent conflict resolution and restorative approaches
• Support education and vocational opportunities
• Collaborate with DCYF, Family Court, and TFS staff
• Engage with stakeholders to provide holistic support
