Job summary

Children & Families of Iowa is seeking a Credible Messenger Program Coordinator/CFI Program Director to oversee daily operations and mentor youth in the Credible Messenger program. You will work under the guidance of the Program Director, providing essential oversight and guiding youth as they navigate the Juvenile Justice system.

The role emphasizes mentorship, data reporting, and collaboration with community partners to support reentry and positive outcomes for youth in Iowa.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Lived experience with Juvenile/J Criminal Justice systems.
• Experience with data collection and data entry.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Willing to mentor Credible Messengers and undergo training.
• Strong writing skills; experience with court reports/testifying in court.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one mentoring and youth support; participate in training and community-building activities.
• Mentor youth in the Juvenile Justice system; develop and track goal plans.
• Follow grant-referral processes; maintain confidentiality.
• Conduct weekly home visits and provide support at home or school.
• Ensure timely data entry and assist with grant reporting.
• Provide crisis support as needed; connect with local resources.
• Build relationships with QRTPs and state facilities to support reentry planning.
• Leverage lived CJ experience to inform guidance.
• Attend local, county, and statewide meetings with JCS.

The impactful work you'll be doing:

• Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to youth; participate in training and community-building activities.
• Mentor youth involved in the Juvenile Justice system
  • Develop and track goal achievement plans with youth.
  • Follow referral processes as outlined in the grant.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to mandated reporting requirements.
  • Conduct weekly home visits and provide support at home or school.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of required data.
  • Offer crisis support as needed.
  • Contact referred youth within 5 business days of receiving a referral.
  • Build positive relationships with QRTPs, State Training Schools, and other residential facilities to support reentry planning.
• Bring prior experience with the Juvenile Justice system, Criminal Justice system, or lived experience.
• Stay informed about community resources and attend local meetings to learn about available services for youth.
• Participate in local, county, and statewide meetings, and collaborate with Juvenile Court Services (JCS) in the 7th Judicial District.
• Complete required paperwork, enter data, and assist with grant reporting.

Requirements

Credible Messengers must meet the following qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Lived experience with the Juvenile Justice system, Criminal Justice system, and/or personal lived experience.
3. Experience with data collection and data entry.
4. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
5. Provide mentorship to other Credible Messengers and a willingness to undergo required training.

Strong writing skills are essential, with experience in writing court reports and testifying in court.
