Job summary

After-School All-Stars LA is seeking a Part-Time Program Leader in Los Angeles to provide leadership and support across academic, cultural and recreational enrichment for youth. You will supervise a safe environment, support daily activities, and coordinate with staff and guardians to ensure high-quality programming.

The role requires collaboration with school staff, parents, and community partners, maintaining a strong 20:1 ratio, and availability for evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students in grades K-12 in recreational, educational or community youth outreach setting.
• Ability to work cooperatively with School District staff, parents and community leaders.
• Familiarity with quality criteria for after school programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond to critical incidents.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have HS diploma or GED and pass ASAS-LA exam or have an Associates degree or higher, or two years of higher education.
• Criminal record clearance via fingerprinting.
• TB test clearance.
• Physical ability to lead activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in a language other than English is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in planning and implementing the daily after-school program under the Program Coordinator.
• Maintain a 20:1 student ratio using recruitment and retention strategies.
• Build positive relationships with youth, guardians and school staff to raise program visibility.
• Provide attendance data and program progress as part of quality improvement.
• Create a creative learning environment with academic and recreational enrichment.
• Use age-appropriate methods for engaging learning experiences.
• Supervise students to ensure a safe, supportive environment.
• Maintain professional appearance and relationships with stakeholders.
• Communicate with school staff and guardians about activities and events.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development.
• Supervise field trips and events as needed.
• Distribute and track supper/snack per school protocols.
• Maintain program materials and equipment in good condition.
• Communicate safety standards and ensure safe facilities.
• Be available for evenings, weekends and off-site meetings as necessary.
• Travel to various site locations and field trips as required.
• Work as part of a team to run program-wide initiatives.
