Job summary

The After-School All-Stars Los Angeles is seeking a Part-Time Program Leader to support academic, cultural and recreational enrichment for K-12 students. The role emphasizes safe, engaging activities after school and requires strong communication with youth, families and school staff.

Core hours run 2:00pm–6:30pm with occasional evenings and weekends. Candidates should have experience with youth programs, pass background checks, and be comfortable coordinating supplies, supervision and field

Qualifications

• Experience with K-12 students in recreational/educational settings.
• Ability to work with school staff, parents and community leaders.
• Familiarity with after-school program quality criteria.
• Strong communication and emergency responsiveness.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Background and TB clearance required.
• Criminal record clearance prior to youth contact.
• Fluency in a language other than English desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in planning and implementing the daily after-school program.
• Maintain a 20:1 student ratio with recruitment and retention strategies.
• Develop relationships with youth, guardians and school staff.
• Provide attendance and program progress data to supervisor.
• Prepare and maintain a creative learning environment and supplies.
• Facilitate age-appropriate active learning experiences.
• Supervise students to ensure a safe, supportive environment.
• Communicate with staff and guardians about activities and needs.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development.
• Supervise field trips and events as needed.
• Distribute and track meals per school protocols.
• Maintain spaces and report hazards to supervisor.
• Keep program materials and equipment in good condition.
• Follow safety standards and ensure safe, well-lit spaces.
• Evening and weekend hours may be required; travel for meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
