Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh is seeking a mission-driven Program Director to oversee after-school programs in the North Hills School District and a summer day camp, directing operations, staffing, and safety. You will mentor educators, build partnerships, and uphold high standards of care and child development.

Lead culture emphasizes belonging, community impact, and continuous improvement through staff training and collaboration with families and schools.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in youth programs and 1+ year staff supervision.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Human Services, or related field.
• Strong relationship-builder with families, school personnel, and community partners.
• Organized, energetic, and flexible; able to take initiative and problem-solve in real time.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily operations of after-school programs in North Hills and a summer camp.
• Supervise, mentor, and support staff; ensure safety and belonging for all participants.
• Develop engaging, age-appropriate curricula to support youth achievement and relationships.
• Build partnerships with schools, families, and community organizations.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and accreditation standards for care.
• Manage budgets, staff schedules, reports, and documentation with accuracy.
• Engage with children during peak hours as needed.
• Represent YMCA in the community and foster philanthropy.
• Promote continuous improvement through training, reflection, and innovation.
• Maintain safe, clean facilities and equipment.
• Participate in Youth Development Cabinet and other committees.
