Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a program assistant to provide support and delivery for our youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility initiatives. You will work under supervision, following established practices to ensure high-quality programming for members and the community.

Responsibilities include engaging members, coaching staff, supporting the Program Director with compliance, and helping with staff onboarding, scheduling, and new initiatives.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service, program delivery or related experience.
• Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) with children and adults.
• Desire to work with children and families and relate to them positively and patiently.
• Ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.

Responsibilities

• Actively works within assigned program area to develop member relationships and improve engagement.
• Participates in program events, meetings and trainings.
• Support Program Director to ensure compliance with YMCA standards and certifications.
• Monitor and evaluate program delivery and plan activity schedules.
• Assist with interviewing, onboarding and training new staff; may help with staff schedules.
• Assist with new program initiatives and marketing materials; track records and registrations.
