Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Sports Coach to assist with practices, games and events, delivering a quality experience for children and parents while upholding the YMCA values.

Responsibilities include promoting core values, ensuring safety, preparing playing areas, communicating with parents, and supporting staff meetings and campaigns. This is a part-time role requiring a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must possess oral, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
• Keen desire to work with children and relate to them in a positive, patient, sensitive and non-judgmental manner.
• Must possess basic knowledge of sports.
• Must have flexible schedule to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and incorporates the YMCA five core values and character development model into all program activities.
• Interacts with participants and provides feedback during games.
• Monitors play to oversee safety and enforce YMCA rules.
• Prepares playing areas to ensure safety for all participants.
• Greet and communicate with parents.
• Attends staff meetings and training sessions as requested or required.
• All other duties as assigned.
