Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Sports Assistant to support program delivery, oversee practices, games and events for children, and uphold the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.

You will work with staff and volunteers to create a safe, fun, and developmental experience for participants, maintain safety rules, assist with facilities, and communicate with parents.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED within 30 days of hire.
• Must possess oral, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
• Must have a keen desire to work with children and relate to them positively and patiently.
• Must possess basic knowledge of sports.
• Flexible schedule to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Promotes YMCA core values in all activities.
• Treats children, parents, and staff with dignity and respect.
• Monitors games and ensures safety and rule compliance.
• Prepares playing areas and maintains safe environment.
• Greet and communicate with parents; address concerns calmly.
• Attends staff meetings and assists with events as requested.
