Job summary

Youth Development Professional at Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains, Inc. in Brookings, SD will serve as a positive role model, supporting and encouraging youth.

You will help design activities, promote welfare, and build relationships while expanding knowledge in social work, behavioral studies, and management skills. Responsibilities include supervising daily recreation operations, organizing activities, ensuring safety, and enforcing club policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Commitment to four days a week.
• Able to work during school year operating hours.
• Able to work during summer hours.
• Understand and demonstrate behavior management principles, aligned with Club values.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all areas by enforcing rules, modeling positive behavior, and serving as a mentor for youth.
• Oversee daily operations of recreation areas, safety equipment, facilities, and signage; operate a computer as needed.
• Organize and facilitate recreational activities including games, fitness events, arts and crafts, and daily music instruction.
• Encourage participation and healthy relationships by welcoming new members and promoting group activities.
• Assess group dynamics and collaborate with leadership to create activities for relationship building and confidence.
• Complete paperwork, incident reports, progress evaluations, and activity assessments as required.
• Foster teamwork and leadership by adding activities that promote responsibility among participants.
• Ensure all program activities follow Club policies and procedures; maintain safety and security of youth.
• Attend all-staff meetings and regular one-on-one/team meetings; provide daily feedback to supervisor.
• Support the supervisor in trimester performance goals and program improvements.
